About IDI

The Institute for Data Integrity was established to respond to a clear industry need: credible, science-based data suitable for leather Life Cycle Assessments is not widely available.

IDI brings together governance, technical expertise, and platform development to address this gap in a structured and transparent way.

Governance & Integrity

IDI is overseen by a Board and managed by an operational team, with strategic guidance provided by an independent Advisory Committee comprising relevant technical and industry expertise.

The Advisory Committee is responsible for contributing to the Strategic Plan, advising on data and methodological requirements, and ensuring scientific rigor and transparency as the platform is developed and deployed.

Clear separation between strategy, delivery, and oversight is built into IDI’s operating model from the outset.

Current Initiatives & Projects

Defining priorities and foundations for delivery.

The Institute for Data Integrity is developing its 2026 programme of work, guided by its Advisory Committee. Current initiatives are focused on defining the scope, governance, and technical requirements needed to support credible, science-based leather Life Cycle Assessments.

Specific projects and work packages are being developed and will be published as they are agreed and commissioned. This page will be updated as IDI’s initial initiatives move from planning into delivery.

Partnerships

Supporting collaboration through shared purpose and integrity.

IDI recognises that progress in sustainability data and Life Cycle Assessment depends on collaboration. Across the leather industry and the wider natural materials ecosystem, many organisations and experts are already contributing valuable datasets, methodologies, tools, and research.

IDI intends to work alongside these efforts by providing a neutral platform, clear governance, and data integrity frameworks that can support and connect complementary initiatives. Details of partnerships and formal collaborations will be shared as they are established.
